According to previous reports, the filming for Babylon Berlin Season 4 commenced in early period of 2021 and completed in September (2021), with the production having shot for 129 days at Studio Babelsberg and at locations around Berlin. The upcoming season is set in late 1930 and early 1931.
Ahead of Babylon Berlin Season 4’s premiere in October, the series has revealed a first look at what’s in the store. The trailer for fourth season takes the viewers into the backdrop set against Germany’s dark streets in the 1930s.
The trailer of Babylon Berlin Season 4 commences with Nazi soldiers preparing to rage the country. It is also followed by Charlotte running in the streets shouting and looking for Toni.
The co-director of the earlier seasons of Babylon Berlin, Tom Tykwer, Achim von Borries, and Hendrik Handloegten already shared their plans to bring changes in the plot of Season 4.
“We thought it was time for a bit of change and of course we are faster, and we wanted the female input. We hope if everything goes well to shoot next year again,” said Henk Handloegten.
“The next one which is called Goldstein, and that’s the third book, will be our fourth season. That is a book that we will base a lot of storylines on,” said the creator.
The viewers were astonished to see in the previous season the crashed stock market in Germany where Gereon Rath incurred a heavy loss. He took a heavy dose of morphine before propelling into a psychedelic hallucination. It also triggered the end of the democratic Weimar Republic. The romantic link between Gereon Rath and Charlotte Ritter was hinted in the previous season with a kissing scene.
Thus, many fans of Babylon Berlin believe that Season 4 can portray the relationship between Gereon Rath and Charlotte Ritter beautifully. Definitely, I mean we, we can’t go another way now,” Henk Handloegten answered to Express.uk while being questioned if their connection would continue to be explored in future.
Babylon Berlin is all about Berlin during the Weimar Republic, starting in 1929. It follows Gereon Rath (Volker Bruch), a police inspector on assignment from Cologne who is on a secret mission to dismantle an extortion ring, and Charlotte Ritter, a police clerk by day and a flapper by night, who is aspiring to become a police inspector.
